The redevelopment of the surroundings of theCabanyal Station has transformed more than 5.000 m² of public space into an accessible, inclusive site that respects Mediterranean identity. The intervention combines universal mobility, a gender perspective, and sustainable solutions, offering safe and pleasant routes for all residents.
For the paving, Llosa Vulcano® and Terana® six were used, along with Gran Llosa Vulcano® in larger areas. These precast pieces stand out for their durability, color stability, and aesthetic finish, ensuring comfort for pedestrian traffic and low maintenance over time. The garden curbs and Superstep® stair treads allow for the organization of different levels and the delimitation of green areas, contributing to a clear layout of the space.
The project enhances the relationship between historical heritage and contemporary use, incorporating vegetation and landscape elements that generate visual continuity and a pleasant atmosphere. The large surfaces paved with Gran Llosa Vulcano® reinforce the sense of spaciousness, while the precast materials promote sustainability by including up to 40% recycled aggregates and being 100% recyclable.
With this intervention, the surroundings of the station are consolidated as an urban benchmark for accessibility, sustainability, and landscape quality, recognized with the 2025 Alhambra National Prize in green infrastructure, where architecture, design, and functionality are integrated to enrich the daily experience of the community.
