Ferrater Brick: infinite lines
Ferrater Brick highlights the horizontality of facades. Thanks to its elongated proportions, it creates a visual sensation of infinite lines, with very thin vertical joints and recessed horizontal joints in the background. This geometric interplay, along with its constructive performance, offers architects the possibility to explore a wide range of colors, textures, and treatments, adapting to the aesthetic and functional needs of each project. Ferrater Brick is for those seeking to design facades where harmony, subtlety, and spatial continuity are perfectly integrated with the architectural environment. A material that reflects the search for beauty in the essential and elegance in the subtle.
Ferrater Brick: a brick with history
The architect Carlos Ferrater conceived the original pressed concrete brick piece for architectural and technical reasons. Both its dimensions and its implementation allowed it to transcend its own nature and become a horizontal texture. The use of a specific geometry and dimension, seeking the limits of the material and whose bond offers a recessed horizontal joint and a butt vertical joint, has been an element used in a large number of facades within the Mediterranean context.
“The Ferrater Brick is designed to reinforce the horizontality of fair-faced facades, generating a sense of calm and serenity in architectural design.”
Almost thirty years later, the update of the piece by Breinco improves its performance, capabilities, and environmental commitment. It is a longer brick, which reduces construction times, and allows for placement on both exterior and interior walls, floors, and in all types of situations. This new version can be applied in both horizontal texture and a novel vertical texture, which will likely allow for a wide range of constructive situations using the same principles as the original piece.

Ferrater Brick Innovation
The new Ferrater Brick has been developed within the framework of a collaborative project between Breinco and the collective platform Office of Architecture in Barcelona (OAB), established in 2005 by Carlos Ferrater, along with his children Borja and Lucía and his son-in-law Xavier Martí-Galí.

Ferrater Brick and its versatility | Uses

The colors of the Ferrater Brick
Breinco manufactures the Ferrater Brick White Marble using crushed marble and high-quality white cement, which gives it its distinctive white color throughout its structure. For darker tones such as Black Basalt, Camelgray, Sandstone, Mocha, Stormy, and Onyx, they use crushed granite and silicon of great strength and durability. This ensures that each piece is of high quality and has a long service life.
The Ferrater Brick is pigmented in its surface layer with inorganic pigments based on synthetic iron oxides, which offer exceptional resistance to both inclement weather and ultraviolet radiation. Among the benefits of the Ferrater Brick are its durability over time and its stability against temperature changes, which guarantees an impeccable appearance throughout its useful life.
