La transformación de la Plaza del Poble en Andorra la Vella ha dado lugar a un espacio público más abierto, accesible y pensado para el disfrute de personas de todas las edades. El nuevo diseño apuesta por zonas amplias de estancia, áreas de sombra móviles, espacios de juego e itinerarios cómodos que permiten una circulación más fluida entre los distintos niveles de la plaza y la pasarela Rosa Ferrer.
One of the project’s key elements has been the choice of materials, which seek to reinforce the natural identity of this great urban viewpoint. In this sense, the intervention incorporates paving from Breinco’s Programa Granit, specifically Natural Granit. This flooring is made 100% from granite aggregates, standing out for its organic texture and unique character. Its surface features a visible concentration of dark mica that intensifies the granite’s natural feel, providing a dynamic and authentic appearance. This finish fits particularly well in projects that wish to maintain a visual connection with the landscape, as in this case, where the square functions as a balcony over the city and the mountains.
Additionally, these pavements feature Net-Clean® protection, a surface sealant that facilitates daily cleaning and prevents dirt from penetrating the material. Thanks to this protective layer, the pavement stays in better condition for longer, reduces permanent staining, and offers easier maintenance. Net-Clean® is a solvent-free treatment, environmentally friendly and designed to extend the service life of paving in high-use public spaces.
The project also integrates accessibility solutions through Llosa Vulcano® Tactile Warning and Crossing, elements designed to facilitate orientation for people with visual impairments and ensure safe routes. Their incorporation allows for a clear reading of the space and improves safety on the main itineraries, without breaking the aesthetic coherence of the whole.
The combination of the natural character of the Programa Granit with the tactile elements of Llosa Vulcano® creates a friendlier, more modern square prepared for intensive use. The result is a balanced urban space where aesthetics, accessibility, and functionality work together to offer a comfortable, safe, and visually attractive place for residents and visitors.
