Custom bench in Plaça dels Germans Sàbat, Girona: a high-quality space for pedestrians

Breinco has contributed to the redevelopment of Plaça dels Germans Sàbat (Girona) by creating a custom curved concrete bench alongside slab paving.

Thanks to its modern design, both the bench and the slabs from Breinco have brought elegance and functionality to the project. The urban furniture, together with the slabs, surrounds the entire square and helps separate the social interaction area from traffic and parking zones.

A high-quality space for pedestrians

Plaça dels Germans Sàbat in Girona has become a new area designed for pedestrian use. With the reduction of vehicular traffic, it has gained more recreational space. The goal now is to increase social interaction and, consequently, support the development of local commerce.

The former Plaça dels Germans Sàbat

Previously, Plaça dels Germans Sàbat was an asphalt area for vehicular traffic that functioned as a roundabout and parking space.

Modifications in Plaça dels Germans Sàbat

With the aim of creating a high-quality pedestrian space, the following actions were carried out:

Greening of the square: planting of around fifteen trees.
Creation of a pedestrian rest area: a long curved architectural concrete bench Wet-Cast® was installed around the entire square.
Accessibility: the space was adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Bicycle parking area was implemented.
Traffic reduction: a single circulation direction was established (except public transport) and parking areas were reduced.
A shaded bus stop area was created.
