According to the list The 30 coolest streets in the world published by Time Out International, Passeig de Sant Joan is ranked as the second best street in the world. The magazine highlights the sustainable design of the boulevard, optimized for pedestrians and cyclists.
PASSEIG DE SANT JOAN: URBAN GREEN CORRIDOR
Its redevelopment, carried out over the last decade, was led by architect Lola Domènech Oliva, who aimed to prioritize pedestrian use and transform the boulevard into an urban green corridor. These goals have turned Passeig de Sant Joan into a benchmark for 21st-century green urbanism.
Among the most notable features of Passeig Sant Joan are its wide sidewalks that invite walking, its lanes optimized for different types of transport, the vegetation that gives it different colors throughout the seasons, and the presence of architecturally significant works of global relevance.
PERMEABLE SPACES
The creation of permeable spaces in Passeig de Sant Joan, has been a successful initiative praised as “the soul of the boulevard“ by the distinguished media outlet Wall Street International. Likewise, the well-known blog Jardines sin fronteras has also described the permeable pavement as “an innovative construction solution aligned with the eco-efficiency philosophy of the boulevard”.

Passeig de Sant Joan uses LLOSA VULCANO® in Ceniza color, laid in the traditional way and featuring the RASEN MOHR® system. At BREINCO we have created LLOSA VULCANO® slab in a variety of formats and colors; additionally, all shades are available in two textures: Standard® or Top Complete®. It is an easy-to-install piece that guarantees quality and high aesthetic value over time. The RASEN MOHR® system used on Passeig de Sant Joan combines LLOSA VULCANO® pavers with biodegradable wood spacers. These spacers created joints that were filled with gravel and topsoil to encourage grass growth. As a result, the promenade features quality paving with high landscape value and, above all, sustainability.
