More than twenty years ago, we created LLOSA VULCANO®, carefully refining every detail of its composition, colour, and design. From the very beginning, it was praised for its strong visual value and has become a preferred choice among architects, urban planners, and landscape designers, who—beyond its aesthetics—have also confirmed its exceptional durability.
The colour brings a new dimension to landscape design. With this idea, we created LLOSA VULCANO®. A chromatic slab designed for spaces where urban grey no longer makes sense. A carefully engineered slab that ensures exceptional durability and a stable colour over time.
LLOSA VULCANO®: an icon of Barcelona’s urban landscape
Over the years, LLOSA VULCANO® has been featured in several urban projects, including the redevelopment of Passeig de Sant Joan, now considered worldwide as the “second best street in the world”.
The Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Government of Catalonia has certified LLOSA VULCANO® with the environmental quality guarantee label, corresponding to the category of raw materials and recycled aggregate products. This recognition is due to the high percentage of recycled aggregates used in its manufacturing process (up to 40%), and LLOSA VULCANO® is also a 100% recyclable product.
Today, it can also be found at the Design Museum of Barcelona, where LLOSA VULCANO® is part of the permanent exhibition “Common Objects. Local Histories, Global Debates.” This exhibition highlights objects that have shaped Barcelona’s history and, through their design, have become cult pieces.
Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes, a benchmark in sustainable urban design, has also been paved with LLOSA VULCANO®, in a custom light colour designed to reduce the “heat island” effect, helping to minimise impact on microclimates and both human and wildlife habitats.
How was LLOSA VULCANO® born?
In 1999, Breinco explored the idea of giving urban pavements their own identity, at a time when only the “urban grey” was commonly used in public spaces. After research and testing, Breinco created LLOSA VULCANO®, a sustainable product with high durability thanks to its composition and great versatility for landscape applications.
