The Avant-Garde Soho District in Málaga has established itself as a benchmark for urban art and contemporary culture, combining creativity, citizen initiative, and urban revitalization. Its streets and squares—filled with graffiti by internationally renowned artists, local businesses with their own distinct identity, art galleries, and cultural venues like the La Alameda Theatre or the Contemporary Art Centre—have become a dynamic and pedestrian-friendly route, connecting artistic life with the city’s tourism experience.
In this context, Gran Llosa Vulcano® and Taco Terana® have been incorporated into streets and squares, combining both materials to achieve an aesthetic, durable, and functional paving solution. The Gran Llosa Vulcano® provides visual continuity and spaciousness to pedestrian areas and squares, while the Taco Terana® allows for the demarcation of surfaces and the framing of details, offering precision and segmentation without disrupting the homogeneity of the pavement.
The pieces incorporate Air Clean® photocatalytic technology, which helps to decontaminate urban air by transforming nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless compounds through the action of sunlight and rainwater. This active property creates healthier and self-cleaning environments, improving the environmental quality of the neighborhood without altering the urban aesthetics.
The intervention ensures comfortable transit for pedestrians and a harmonious integration with the urban environment, reinforcing the neighborhood’s identity and enhancing the experience of residents, visitors, and tourists in a space that is a symbol of Málaga’s cultural dynamism and creativity—where creativity, culture, and sustainability intertwine.
