The Panot del Segle XXI has been awarded the 2026 Gold Delta Award in the Materials and Construction Elements category, the highest distinction granted by ADI-FAD.
The award ceremony took place on July 22 at Disseny Hub Barcelona, as part of the 43rd edition of the Delta Awards. All selected and awarded projects can be seen at the “Delta Awards 2026” exhibition, open to the public at Disseny Hub Barcelona until September 6.
Recognition for a way of understanding design
On the Panot del Segle XXI, the jury highlighted:
“For reinventing the urban paving tile with a circular solution that reduces environmental impact, improves drainage and facilitates reuse, contributing to more sustainable and resilient cities.”
An assessment aligned with the criteria that has guided the product’s development from the outset: sustainability not as a standalone category, but as a criterion running through every design decision.
Panot del Segle XXI: a paving tile designed for 21st-century cities
The Panot del Segle XXI is the redesign of Barcelona’s iconic paving tile, developed to meet the environmental, functional and liveability challenges of contemporary cities. Its optimised composition reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 43.41% compared to the traditional model, thanks to the inclusion of up to 40% recycled aggregates, the use of locally sourced materials and a significant reduction in cement content. These figures are backed by an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certifying its impact across the full life cycle.
Its flexible installation system, laid without mortar on a sand or gravel base, allows each unit to be removed and reused without damage, improves ground permeability and supports integration with Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).
From the Ecodesign Award to the Gold Delta Award
This Gold Delta Award adds to the mention received at the Premi Catalunya d’Ecodisseny 2025 and reinforces the Panot del Segle XXI’s position as one of the reference solutions in sustainable urban paving in Spain.
