A New Green Axis with State-of-the-Art Permeable Pavement
The transformation of Cataluña Avenue, led by architect and landscape designer Lola Domènech, represents a strong commitment to healthy urbanism. This boulevard, conceived as a pedestrian green axis, is fully integrated with the geography and identity of Sant Antoni de Calonge, promoting accessibility, urban greenery, and sustainable water management.
Nominated for the ADI-FAD Awards 2024 in the City and Landscape category, the project highlights the importance of design as a tool to enhance urban quality of life.
Breinco contributed a key element: the Llosa Filtra®, a permeable pavement developed in a custom color at Domènech’s request, inspired by volcanic tuff and designed to blend with the natural surroundings. This finish provides an organic and sophisticated aesthetic, visually complementing the vegetation that will grow over time.
Filtra®, part of the ECO-SUDS® system, facilitates rainwater infiltration, prevents runoff, and eliminates the need for conventional drains. Its design combines structural functionality, urban aesthetics, and sustainability, making it a key tool for green urbanism.
Cataluña Avenue stands as an example of how intelligent materials can strengthen the relationship between infrastructure, landscape, and community. A project that demonstrates how paving and drainage can coexist in harmony, serving a modern, resilient, and beautiful public space.
