An iconic infrastructure that redefines mobility in Montpellier
Montpellier South Station is an elevated station that establishes a new urban gateway for the city. Connected to the high-speed rail line, the station is designed as a spacious, light-filled environment where structure and daylight interact continuously. Large openings, a sequence of shadows, and natural ventilation make the building comfortable even on the warmest days.
The building is organized like a bridge that spans the tracks, proposing a new approach to contemporary stations: expansive, fluid spaces visually connected with the surrounding environment.
Its location within the new Cambacérès district forms part of Montpellier’s natural southern expansion, integrating into a developing area that will combine mobility, new facilities, and public spaces.
Brienco contributed to this project with the VS5® system in White and Metal finishes, integrated across various surfaces of the architectural ensemble.
The VS5® ensures excellent pavement stability thanks to its dual anchoring system. This solution combines precision, durability, and an aesthetic defined by subtle shadows and a lightweight materiality.
Since its opening, the station has established itself as a strategic hub in the high-speed rail network and has been recognized for its architecture with the Mention Intérieur of the Prix Versailles. Its design anticipates the transformation of the surrounding area, where transportation, landscape, and new urban developments intertwine to shape the future identity of the district.
