An iconic infrastructure that redefines mobility in Montpellier
The Gare de Montpellier Sud de France is an elevated station that becomes a new urban threshold for the city. Connected to the high-speed rail line, the station has been designed as a spacious, light, and airy environment, where structure and light engage in continuous dialogue. Large voids, the sequence of shadows, and natural ventilation make the building comfortable even on the hottest days.
The building is organized as a bridge spanning the tracks, projecting a new approach to contemporary stations: spacious, fluid areas visually connected with their surroundings.
Its location within the new Cambacérès district is part of Montpellier’s natural southward expansion, integrating into a developing area that will combine mobility, new facilities, and public spaces.

Since its opening, the station has established itself as a strategic node in the high-speed rail network and has been recognized for its architecture with the Mention Intérieur of the Prix Versailles. Its design anticipates the transformation of the surrounding area, where transport, landscape, and new urban developments intertwine to shape the district’s future character.
