Urban transformation with a sustainable vision

The remodeling of the Port Olímpic in Barcelona has redefined this emblematic space as a new axis of connection between the city and the sea. The intervention transforms a former leisure enclave into a multifunctional, accessible, and inclusive environment with a strong commitment to sustainability, where urban life combines with respect for the natural surroundings and integration with the coastal landscape.

The pedestrian paths and seating areas have been paved with Llosa Vulcano®, whose light tones and refined texture contribute to reducing the heat island effect, while providing visual continuity and comfort in transit and relaxation spaces. The surface incorporates Net-Clean® technology, which facilitates cleaning and protects the pavement from stains and dirt, ensuring long-lasting aesthetics and simple maintenance.

For level changes and meeting points, the steps are constructed with Superstep®, whose resistance, durability, and non-slip finish guarantee safety and comfort, integrating naturally into the landscape and reinforcing the harmony of the surroundings. Furthermore, the large-format grandstands built with Wetcast® architectural concrete serve a dual purpose: structural support and public seating, creating versatile and aesthetically balanced rest areas inspired by classic tiered seating.

The result is an open, safe, and attractive port, where every route and seating area fosters a connection between the sea and the city. The intervention demonstrates how urban design, the selection of high-performance materials, and the integration of innovative solutions can create sustainable, functional public spaces with their own unique identity.
