The interaction of water\u2014to remove the particles that remain after photocatalysis\u2014and ultraviolet light\u2014to activate the catalyst\u2014is also necessary. <figure id=\"attachment_1645\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1645\" style=\"width: 2500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1645 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/breinco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/MG_4401.jpg\" alt=\"sustainable\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1667\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1645\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nautical port in L&#8217;Estartit, Girona<\/figcaption><\/figure> <\/p>\n<h2>&#8220;Photocatalysis is the photosynthesis of urban surfaces&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p> Photocatalysis has existed since the 70s and is highly developed in other countries, such as Japan, where there is a photocatalytic university in charge of studying this process. If a technology capable of decontaminating is already available to society, why isn&#8217;t it more widespread? David Almaz\u00e1n, president of the AIF <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fotocatalisis.org\">(www.fotocatalisis.org)<\/a>, explains that the association has been collaborating with many city councils for years and that, specifically, the Barcelona City Council has made it a condition to consider the use of photocatalytic products to &#8220;reduce pollution and to generate the self-cleaning process.&#8221; <\/p>\n<h1><strong>Photocatalytic pavement in the Nautical Port of L&#8217;Estartit, Girona <\/strong><\/h1>\n<p> The first phase of the remodeling of the Nautical Port of L&#8217;Estartit means the complete renovation of the infrastructure and the expansion of access to the docking area. The new Garb\u00ed breakwater allows for hosting vessels up to 45 m in length and guaranteeing the supply of energy and water, recycling islands, and environmental and safety equipment required by these vessels.
