Its recent rehabilitation has restored the building\u2019s heritage value while adapting it to contemporary needs, preserving its original character and reinforcing its role as an urban and social catalyst.<\/p>\n\n<p>After nearly a decade of construction, the new market emerges as an <strong>open, functional, and contextually integrated space<\/strong>, bringing together three markets \u2014 food, flea, and Sunday \u2014 alongside new commercial, sports, and community areas. The project preserves the building\u2019s characteristic Greek-cross structure while reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens that blends architectural tradition with modern energy efficiency and accessibility standards.<\/p>\n\n<p>The intervention has also enabled the <strong>enhancement of the archaeological heritage<\/strong> uncovered during construction \u2014 including the Roman Via Augusta and remains of the Sant Antoni bastion \u2014 integrating these elements into the interior route as part of an authentic open-air museum.<\/p>\n\n<p>In this rehabilitation process, <strong>Breinco<\/strong> contributed with customised <strong>Wetcast\u00ae architectural concrete<\/strong> solutions, specifically developed for the handrail capping elements. These units not only accommodate the staircase\u2019s incline but also provide a texture and finish that harmoniously integrate with the building\u2019s original architecture.<\/p>\n\n<p>Additionally, the <strong>Superstep\u00ae tread<\/strong> has been incorporated \u2014 a monolithic, durable element that combines functionality and design within the market\u2019s central staircase.
