Decarbonizing architecture: Breinco at ARCHITECT@WORK Valencia

Breinco participated in the first edition of Architect@Work Valencia, held at Feria Valencia. The event brought together architecture and design professionals to explore new ways of building and transforming urban space through sustainable criteria.

The central theme of this edition, “Decarbonizing architecture”, addressed how to move towards built environments with a lower environmental impact, focusing on low-carbon materials, more efficient processes, and urban solutions that improve the environmental performance of public space.

Solutions for more sustainable cities

At our stand, we presented some of our most innovative urban solutions, where design, functionality, and sustainability come together. Our goal is to offer products that not only fulfill their construction function, but also provide real value to urban spaces, improve resource management, and contribute to the creation of more resilient and efficient environments.

Ferrater Brick: elegance and continuity in every façade

Originally designed by Carlos Ferrater and developed together with Breinco, Ferrater Brick is a fair-faced concrete brick designed to enhance façade horizontality and create visual continuity. Its elongated proportions and precise geometry allow façades to be composed with a uniform rhythm, where each piece connects with the next, projecting harmony and calmness in the urban environment.

It incorporates technical and environmental improvements: it is water-repellent, durable, fire-resistant, and antibacterial, with minimal maintenance. Its versatility allows use in exterior façades, interior walls, or pavements, adapting to different planes without losing aesthetic coherence.

A wide range of colors and finishes makes it possible to create envelopes with their own identity, combining elegance and functionality in every project.

Llosa Filtra: the union between paving and drainage

Llosa Filtra is a permeable pavement that integrates sustainable drainage, optimizing rainwater management. Its design creates a linear joint that enhances permeability, while internal spacers ensure structural support and reduce erosion caused by pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

Filtra facilitates controlled water infiltration, and its aesthetic of continuous natural lines brings visual and pedestrian comfort, integrating harmoniously into squares, access areas, and urban paths.

Manufactured with recycled and locally sourced materials, it incorporates Air Clean® photocatalytic technology, which decontaminates the air and keeps the surface self-cleaning.

SUDS: Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems

Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) represent an integrated approach to improving urban stormwater management by mimicking natural infiltration processes and controlling runoff.

They provide environmental, social, and economic benefits:

  • Reduce local flooding and improve water quality.
  • Promote groundwater recharge and reduce the urban heat island effect.
  • Increase social cohesion by creating safe and pleasant pedestrian spaces.
  • Support the local economy by enhancing pedestrian flow and urban quality.

Products such as Llosa Filtra are part of this approach, offering functional, aesthetic, and sustainable solutions with a tangible impact on the city.

Decarbonization: a challenge and an opportunity

The central theme of Architect@Work 2025, “Decarbonizing architecture,” highlights the importance of building with climate awareness. Decarbonization represents both a challenge and an opportunity to create more sustainable, resilient, and healthy cities.

At Breinco, we reaffirm our commitment to solutions that reduce environmental impact and promote responsible urbanism, showing how innovation can transform urban spaces through sustainable and functional solutions.
