SUDS: the solution for sustainable urbanism
Urban developments have for years followed practices that do not support hydrological impact, such as the impermeabilisation of surfaces. This disrupts the hydrological cycle, meaning that water that used to infiltrate the ground now runs off, generating a chain of problems.
Faced with this issue, Breinco proposes the implementation of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) as the best alternative to prevent flooding. SUDS promote an urbanism that imitates natural hydrological processes in its design, thereby controlling runoff in the urban landscape.
