These are prismatic, solid elements with a cross-section determined by the use of the different types of exterior surfaces they delimit.
Dropped Kerbs
These are areas that modify their structure with sloped surfaces to connect different levels. They are classified into pedestrian dropped kerbs and vehicle dropped kerbs.
Gutters and steps
A staircase consists of a sequence of treads and risers with proportions between them to facilitate comfortable passage for pedestrians. Gutters and channels are used to conduct or channel surface water through a depression.

Vehicle Dropped Kerb
These are areas of the pavement that modify
their structure to allow vehicles to enter and exit from
the building line to the roadway.
Vehicle dropped kerbs must leave at least 0.90 m
of the pedestrian clear path free,
ensuring enough space for a wheelchair to pass.

Pedestrian Dropped Kerb
Pedestrian dropped kerbs are modifications of areas along a pedestrian route using sloped surfaces that connect different levels and facilitate pedestrians crossing roadways used by vehicles.
A pedestrian dropped kerb is considered accessible when it can be used safely and independently by all people, whether or not they have a disability.

Tactile Paving Stones
Order VIV/561/2010, of February 1, which establishes the technical document on the basic conditions for accessibility and non-discrimination regarding access to and use of urbanized public spaces, sets out the criteria to be followed for the construction of dropped kerbs.
It requires the installation of a directional tactile paving strip 80 cm wide between the line marking the built boundary of the sidewalk and the start of the pedestrian dropped kerb. On the dropped kerb, a 60 cm deep tactile button strip must be placed along the line where the kerb meets the roadway.
