The Baix Llobregat Regional Council is conceived as an iconic, open, and accessible public space designed for daily use, gathering, and community interaction. An institutional environment that prioritizes urban quality and sustainability as core values of the project.
In this intervention, Acqua pave has been incorporated, a permeable paver that allows for paving the surface without sealing it, favoring efficient rainwater management. Thanks to its porous structure, water filters directly into the lower layers, preventing runoff and contributing to the recharge of the subsoil—a quality especially relevant in public spaces with intensive use.
The adopted solution combines functionality and comfort. Acqua pave offers a continuous, stable, and safe surface for pedestrian traffic, allowing for stumble-free walking and reducing noise in transit zones. Its high drainage capacity—in both single-layer and double-layer versions—makes it an effective response to rainfall events, improving the hydraulic performance of the pavement and the durability of the overall project.
In addition to its technical performance, the pavement provides a sober and contemporary image that integrates naturally into the institutional environment of the square. The result is a more resilient, comfortable space prepared for current needs, where urban design and sustainability combine to improve the quality of public space.
