The intervention is located within the scope of the Casernes de Sant Andreu, a project promoted by the Barcelona City Council and the Consorci de la Zona Franca, with the aim of reactivating the development of this area and offering high-quality facilities, housing, and public spaces. The complex includes housing buildings for senior citizens, a civic center, a kindergarten, and an administrative building, distributed among plazas, promenades, and pedestrian traffic areas.
In this project, work was carried out on the development of the outdoor spaces, incorporating paving solutions that combine aesthetics, functionality, and durability. For the pedestrian routes and plazas, Llosa Trama® was applied, creating permeable and resistant surfaces that allow for both pedestrian and light vehicle traffic without compromising the landscape integration of the surroundings.
Furthermore, at specific crossing points and plazas, Tacos Trama (insert blocks) have been used. Inserted within the Llosa Trama® pieces and measuring 8 x 8 x 6 cm, they are available in a diverse palette of colors. These insert blocks allow for the segmentation and delimitation of areas, bringing rhythm and detail to the paving, while the combination of pieces with grass optimizes water absorption and helps maintain the green, open character of the space.
The result is a renewed, accessible, and visually harmonious urban environment, where the paving becomes an integral design element, capable of connecting functionality, safety, and aesthetic value across the entire surface of the intervention.
