Elche unveils its central bus interchange: more modern and accessible
The Central Bus Interchange in Elche has been renovated to offer a more modern, safe, accessible, and sustainable space for residents and travelers. With a daily footfall ranging between 15,000 and 30,000 people and more than 450 buses, this project has transformed one of the city’s primary strategic hubs.
The pedestrian areas have been expanded and Alfredo Llopis Street has been fully pedestrianized, facilitating the flow of foot traffic and significantly improving universal accessibility. Additionally, the project incorporates new urban transport information zones, a ticket sales point, and dedicated bicycle parking, including the Bicielx station. These additions promote sustainable mobility and integrate multimodal transport options, consolidating the area as a functional and user-friendly urban hub.
To pave this environment, a combination of Penta® and Terana® Six has been integrated, materials that provide durability, aesthetics, and functionality to the pedestrian routes and seating areas. Llosa Vulcano® wall cladding was used for the large central pergola, creating an elegant and lasting finish that blends with the landscaped areas and LED lighting, providing shade, comfort, and visual continuity.
The result is a modern and welcoming interchange, where the selection of high-quality paving and sustainable materials reinforces the city’s image, enhances the user experience, and promotes accessible urban environments that are environmentally friendly.
