Elche debuts its new central bus interchange: more modern and accessible

The Elche Central Bus Interchange has been renovated to offer a more modern, safe, accessible, and sustainable space for both residents and travelers. With a daily transit ranging between 15,000 and 30,000 people and more than 450 buses, this project has transformed one of the city’s key transport hubs.

Pedestrian spaces have been expanded and Alfredo Llopis Street has been pedestrianized, facilitating foot traffic and improving accessibility. Additionally, information areas for urban transport, a new ticket sales point, bicycle parking, and the Bicielx station have been incorporated, promoting sustainable mobility.

To pave this environment, a combination of Penta® and Terana® Six has been integrated—materials that bring strength, aesthetics, and functionality to the pedestrian pathways and seating areas. Llosa Vulcano® cladding was used on the large central pergola, creating an elegant and durable finish that blends with the landscaped spaces and LED lighting, providing shade, comfort, and visual continuity.

The result is a modern and welcoming interchange where the choice of high-quality pavements and sustainable materials reinforces the city’s image, improves the user experience, and promotes accessible and environmentally friendly urban environments.
