The intervention in the surroundings of San Antonio and the Church Square of Fornells, next to the Church of San Antonio, is part of a comprehensive urban rehabilitation project aimed at improving services, accessibility, and the quality of public space in the historical center of Fornells.
The intervention has included the paving of the square and various streets of the municipality, integrating into a broader set of actions developed in Fornells, aimed at modernizing local infrastructure, improving the conditions for the use of public space, and reinforcing the urban identity of the surroundings. These actions are complemented by housing rehabilitation initiatives and heritage recovery projects, such as the Camí Vell de Fornells.
The pavement is resolved through the use of VS5®, a technical paver designed to guarantee stability, durability, and resistance in high-use urban environments. Its four vertical sides incorporate spacers with protrusions and recesses that act as a displacement prevention system, ensuring correct interlocking between pieces. Furthermore, the lower part of the paver features 8 mm deep grooves that create a gripping effect on the sand bed, preventing horizontal shifting and improving the structural behavior of the pavement.
The application of VS5® allows for the resolution of public spaces with a robust and reliable solution, especially suitable for historical areas and zones with occasional vehicular traffic, where a balance between functionality, urban integration, and respect for the surroundings is required. The result is a renewed space, consistent with the character of Fornells and prepared for prolonged daily use, maintaining the values of quality and durability inherent to Brienco solutions.
