Germans Sàbat Square has undergone a comprehensive transformation, becoming a pedestrian-friendly, functional, and contemporary space.
The new design redefines the square as a meeting point that encourages social interaction, relaxation, and local commerce.
A renovated square for urban life
Historically, Germans Sàbat Square was a paved area dominated by vehicular traffic and parking. The renovation project prioritizes the pedestrian, reducing vehicle circulation and introducing green spaces and rest areas that enhance environmental quality and urban comfort.
Key interventions include the planting of around fifteen trees, the creation of shaded areas, and the installation of bicycle parking, reinforcing sustainable mobility. In addition, the new design ensures universal accessibility, adapting the square for people with reduced mobility.
A curvilinear bench embracing the square
One of the most iconic elements of the project is the curvilinear bench in Wet-Cast® architectural concrete, designed in collaboration with Breinco’s Technical Department. This urban furniture wraps the square with a fluid, organic line that organizes seating areas, distinguishing them from circulation zones.
The bench is complemented by Wet-Cast® paving slabs, which provide visual continuity and a refined texture, seamlessly integrating the ensemble with the surrounding architecture and greenery.
