The transformation of carrer dels Almogàvers in Barcelona is part of an ambitious sustainable urban planning project that seeks to create a priority green axis for pedestrians, bicycles, and vegetation, boosting local commerce and improving the quality of life in the Poblenou neighborhood. The intervention includes the remodeling of 7,890 square meters, featuring wide pedestrian walkways, bicycle lanes, loading and unloading zones, and a 2,000-square-meter central square with circular parterres that naturally connect the different urban spaces.
To reinforce the space’s identity and functionality, the Panot del Segle XXI has been incorporated across the entire pedestrian surface. This pavement combines tradition and modernity, providing a sustainable, durable, and low-maintenance solution. Its flexible and draining installation allows for efficient rainwater management, reduces the heat island effect, and helps minimize noise and environmental pollution. Furthermore, the Panot’s texture and design offer a safe and comfortable finish for pedestrians, bicycles, and users of the public space, reinforcing the green axis’s visual harmony and consolidating its role as a benchmark for contemporary mobility and urban landscape.
The project converts Almogàvers Street into a more welcoming, accessible, and healthy urban space, where aesthetics and functionality combine to offer a pleasant, dynamic environment that is fully integrated into Barcelona’s urban fabric.
