Plaça de Lisboa establishes itself as a new green and community space that reinforces the urban and social cohesion of the city. The intervention has transformed a strategic area, located over the railway slab, into a contemporary square that directly connects the neighborhoods of Can Llong and Castellarnau, improving pedestrian mobility and the quality of the public space.
The project places greenery and water as the leading elements. Landscaped dunes, flower beds, and a small urban forest shape a gentle and natural landscape, while rainwater collection and infiltration systems contribute to a more sustainable management of the water cycle. The pathways have been designed following the standard foot traffic lines, reinforcing the functional and everyday character of the square, and a central space has been created, prepared to host neighborhood activities and community uses.
In this context, Acqua pave has been incorporated as a permeable paving solution on paths and pedestrian areas. This porous paver allows for paving without sealing the ground, facilitating rainwater to filter directly into the lower layers and reducing surface runoff. Its high drainage capacity, in both single-layer and double-layer versions, reinforces the sustainable performance of the project and aligns with the prominent role of water in the design of the square.
Acqua pave offers a continuous, comfortable, and safe surface for pedestrian traffic. Its finish integrates naturally with the landscaped surroundings and the civic vocation of the space.
The result is a square designed for daily use, social gathering, and neighborhood life, where urban planning, sustainability, and design combine to create a new benchmark for quality public space in Sabadell.
