The Sant Jordi Castle, situated on a strategic rocky outcrop in L’Ametlla de Mar, is a living witness to the history of the region and the various eras that have shaped its territory, from Iberian and Roman occupation to the Middle Ages and the consolidation of the fortress in the 18th century. After years of abandonment and deterioration, the fortress has been restored by the municipality, integrating it into the urban and heritage life of the town and establishing it as a space of cultural and tourist interest.
The intervention project focuses on the outdoor spaces surrounding the castle, including the main entrance, the parking area, and the pedestrian routes. The goal was to provide a homogeneous, functional, and visually attractive pavement that would complement the historical architecture while facilitating the transit of both visitors and light vehicles.
To achieve this, Tegula® six has been incorporated, a rectangular paver with a high-quality decorative rustic finish. Its 90º layout and the combination of soft colors, in Marfil and Mediterráneo, allow for the creation of harmonious and continuous surfaces that highlight the nobility of the stone and the history of the surroundings, maintaining a traditional feel reinterpreted with contemporary criteria.
Tegula® six has been used at the castle entrance, the parking area, and the paths surrounding the fortress, ensuring a resistant and durable surface ideal for pedestrian zones and light vehicle traffic. Its texture and tone provide warmth, visual continuity, and an elegant finish, reinforcing the castle’s identity and its integration with the surrounding urban and natural landscape.
The result is a restored and carefully maintained outdoor environment, where history, architecture, and high-quality materials combine to offer a functional, accessible, and aesthetically coherent space. This intervention enhances the presence of Sant Jordi Castle as both a heritage site and a meeting point in L’Ametlla de Mar.
