Trece Rosas Park is now a reality in Marina del Prat Vermell, one of Barcelona’s most significant new urban developments. Spanning over 21,000 m², the park has become the neighborhood’s major green space, featuring meadows, gardens, seating areas, inclusive play zones, and more than a hundred trees that completely transform the landscape of this growing area.
This large public space, promoted by the Barcelona City Council and executed by the Institut Municipal d’Urbanisme, forms the green heart of the neighborhood and will accompany the arrival of more than 28,000 new residents expected to live in La Marina in the coming years.
A park designed for coexistence, strolling, and enjoyment
The project organizes the space into several interconnected areas:
- Two large meadows:
A seating area with a gentle slope for activities such as children’s games or performances, and a second, more extensive meadow bounded by two green walls that also acts as an infiltration basin for rainwater. - A central plaza-viewpoint, which articulates all the routes and visually connects the two meadows.
- Sloped gardens, featuring stairs and ramps that facilitate accessibility.
- An infiltration pond at the end of the larger meadow, which allows water to be returned to the aquifer naturally.
The selected vegetation is predominantly Mediterranean with low water consumption: holm oaks, oaks, ashes, tamarisks, aromatic plants, and groundcover that reinforce the park’s sustainable character. All irrigation is carried out using groundwater or reclaimed water.
Inclusive play and spaces for all ages
The park incorporates one of the city’s most innovative play areas, with nearly 1,000 m² dedicated to adventure, balance, and accessibility. Its centerpiece is a log and net structure designed for users of different abilities, featuring a special platform that provides wheelchair access and reaches up to three levels in height.
In addition, it includes swings, hammocks, a sandpit, a sliding board, a tilting walkway, and a large activity area for the youngest children.
Breinco’s contribution: paving and furniture that accompany the new urban landscape
In this project, Breinco has contributed to the design of the public space with solutions that reinforce its comfort, durability, and aesthetics:
- Llosa Vulcano®, used in transit and seating areas for its resistance, pleasant texture, and ability to integrate into green environments.
- VS5®, a versatile and stable solution for areas with higher functional demands.
Both pavements help to unify the pathways, improve accessibility, and create a cohesive, inviting feel for the entire complex.
Urban furniture
- Circle Puff, its rounded design provides comfort, safety, and a distinctive character to the park.
With these solutions, Breinco contributes not only to the environment’s aesthetics but also to the durability and sustainability of the public space, key factors for a growing neighborhood that requires infrastructure designed for the long term.
A new meeting point for a neighborhood in transformation
The Trece Rosas Park establishes itself as the major green lung of the Marina del Prat Vermell: a sustainable, accessible, and inclusive space, prepared to support new residents and to become a benchmark for community living.
