The new Plaza de la Merced: nature, accessibility, and culture
The new Plaza de la Merced in Huelva is reinvented as an urban space designed for everyone, where accessibility and connection with nature take center stage. Three side streets, now pedestrianized, surround a large, open, and unobstructed central space that directs the view toward the Cathedral-University facade. Featuring green mounds that mimic Huelva’s rolling geography and a drainage system that makes use of rainwater.
